Car Accidents

A car accident is an unexpected and traumatic event that can result in serious injuries. While some injuries are immediately apparent, others may take days or even weeks to develop. When you have been injured in an accident in Alberta, it is important to monitor your symptoms and understand your legal rights.  We frequently use accident reconstruction experts to attend the accident scene to gather and preserve evidence necessary to prove your claim.

What to do After a Car Accident

It is extremely important to gather evidence of a car accident and your injuries.  Taking the right steps as soon as possible can help protect your health and strengthen any legal claim.  If you have been involved in a car accident, you should:

  • Call 911 immediately to report the car accident to the police or attend at the nearest police station to file a collision report;
  • Exchange insurance and contact information with the other driver, and if possible, take photos of their driver’s license, registration, and insurance documents;
  • Identify any witnesses at the accident scene and obtain their names and contact information;
  • Take photographs of the accident scene, including your vehicle and all other vehicles involved, the license plates of all vehicles involved, the street view with road signs if possible, the road conditions, and any nearby signage;
  • Notify your insurer of the accident as soon as possible; and
  • Contact our office for a free consultation to ensure your rights are protected and you receive appropriate compensation for your injuries.
